MARGARITAVILLE AT SEA
Aviation and Seaport Committee · 2026-06-08 · resolution
Miami-Dade County Commissioners are considering a resolution to approve a Preferential Berthing Rights Agreement with Classica Cruise Operator Ltd. d/b/a Margaritaville at Sea (MVAS). The agreement, which will utilize Cruise Terminal C, is expected to generate at least $23.15 million in guaranteed revenue over its initial five-year term, commencing January 9, 2027, through April 30, 2031, with two optional five-year renewal terms. The agreement aims to support MVAS's growing fleet, including three ships by 2027, and contribute to PortMiami's status as the Cruise Capital of the World. Commissioner Milan Orbis expressed appreciation for the revenue and the addition of another cruise line, while also seeking assurance on entering long-term agreements with new lines. Mr. Wong confirmed the advisability of the agreement, noting its unique structure and the significant barriers to entry in the cruise industry. The agreement includes incentives for off-peak utilization and traffic management. This is the first preferential berthing agreement with a new cruise line since Virgin Voyages in 2019.
