Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) is recommended for approval of a non-competitive designated purchase for Preconditioned Air (PCA) and 400Hz Systems, Parts and Replacement. The contract, SS-10569, is awarded to Dabico Airport Solutions, Inc. for $26,122,966.00 for an initial five-year term with one, five-year option to renew. Dabico is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and sole provider for these proprietary systems installed at Miami International Airport (MIA). The purchase aims to ensure critical equipment remains operational, reduces costs, and is better for the environment by allowing aircraft to shut down onboard Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) while parked. Competition is not practicable due to the proprietary nature of the Dabico systems. The Aviation and Seaport Committee forwarded the item to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) with a favorable recommendation. The current contract expires December 31, 2026.
