Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners ratified an emergency contract for work at the Alexander Orr Water Treatment Plant. The contract, No. EC-298173, was awarded to Industrial Divers Corp. Inc. for $268,298.00 to address an underwater obstruction in the common channel supplying Contact Basin #4. The obstruction, a buildup of calcium carbonate, restricted water flow and threatened the plant's ability to meet water quality standards. Divers were required to inspect and clear the blockage without taking additional basins offline. The work was deemed an emergency to restore normal plant operations and ensure public health and safety. The contract was ratified on May 19, 2026.
