Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution calling for a countywide election on November 3, 2026, to allow voters to decide on maintaining a one (1) mill ad valorem tax levy exclusively for public school operating expenses. This tax, requested by the School Board of Miami-Dade County, is intended to improve compensation for teachers and instructional personnel and enhance student safety and school security. The election will be held during the general election, and the School Board will cover all election costs. The proposed tax levy would be in effect from July 1, 2027, to June 30, 2031.
