ACQUISITION OF THE FUEL FACILITY

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-16 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Commissioners considered a resolution to declare the acquisition of a fuel facility property on Fisher Island a public necessity. The property, identified as Parcels 1 and 2 in legal descriptions, is crucial for PortMiami's continued and future operation of a fuel facility and ancillary port purposes. The county is authorized to acquire the property through negotiation or eminent domain, with an option for an incentive offer up to 15% over appraised value. The current operator, TransMontaigne Terminals, LLC, will cease operations by May 2027, and the owner, HRP Fisher Island, LLC, intends to redevelop the property for residential housing. Appraisals range from $25 million to $430 million, and acquisition will be funded by Seaport Revenue Bonds. The Board of County Commissioners amended the property description to be condemned and provided additional information regarding the exercise of this authority. The resolution was amended and ultimately adopted.
