Miami-Dade County adopted the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Annual Public Housing Agency Plan. This plan, submitted by the Housing and Community Development (HCD) department, outlines policies and strategies for administering federally funded housing programs, including Public Housing, Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), and Project-Based Voucher (PBV) programs. Key changes include establishing a site-based waiting list for Helen Sawyer Plaza Assisted Living Facility, implementing a weighted point system for ranking applicants based on preferences (e.g., homeless referrals, veterans, disabled, elderly, county residency), and updating demolition/disposition activities. The plan also revises Project-Based Voucher Resident Rights and Participation standards and allows for flexibility in Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) conversions. Public input was solicited through a 45-day comment period and meetings with the Resident Advisory Board (RAB) and Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc. The plan was approved by the Board of County Commissioners on June 2, 2026, and authorized for submission to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
