Miami-Dade County Commission amended Resolution 260749 to authorize an additional expenditure of $24,980,000 for Contract No. RFP-01071, the Bus Passenger Shelter Program, bringing the total modified amount to $54,944,885. This funding will be used by the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) to install 500 additional bus passenger shelters with illumination systems and trash receptacles within the Unincorporated Municipal Service Area (UMSA). The project aims to increase shelter coverage from approximately 67% to 89% of UMSA bus stops, responding to community input for improved rider comfort and safety. The vendor for this program is Outfront Media Group, LLC. Funding is authorized from the People's Transportation Plan (PTP) Bond Program. The Transportation Committee forwarded the item with a favorable recommendation.
