Miami-Dade County has established a Solid Waste Advisory Board through Ordinance 260132. This board will consist of 15 voting members with expertise in solid waste management, finance, and related fields. Its purpose is to advise the Board of County Commissioners on developing long-term, sustainable solid waste management strategies, including identifying new technologies, managing costs, and improving recycling and diversion. The board will sunset five years after its establishment unless extended. The ordinance was adopted on first reading on 2/18/2026, deferred on 4/15/2026, forwarded with a favorable recommendation on 5/13/2026, and amended on 6/2/2026. Public comment was not recorded during the Infrastructure, Innovation & Technology Committee meeting on 5/13/2026.
