Establishment of the Downtown SoMi Community Development District (CDD) has been proposed. The CDD is generally bounded by Harriet Tubman Highway (US 1) to the north, SW 57 Avenue (Red Road) to the east, SW 72 Street (Sunset Drive) to the south, and SW 58 Avenue to the west. The proposed development includes approximately 202,462 sq ft of retail space, 1,513 residential units, 287 hotel rooms, 65,892 sq ft of office space, a 1,300-seat movie theater, and associated infrastructure. The estimated cost for these improvements is $149 million. The Board of County Commissioners adopted the ordinance on first reading on 4/21/2026. The item was deferred by Commissioner Regalado to the July 21, 2026 Board of County Commissioners meeting. No public comment is detailed in this document.
