RELATING TO PASSENGER MOTOR CARRIER VEHICLES

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · ordinance

Miami-Dade County is revising its passenger motor carrier vehicle (PMC) regulations. Specifically, Ordinance File Number 260868 amends Sections 31-102 and 31-107 of the Miami-Dade County Code. The key change allows vehicles used for circulator or fixed route services to operate up to 20 model years of age or 350,000 miles, whichever comes first. Previously, the general limit was 10 model years, and 15 model years for circulator or fixed route services. This change was prompted by a resolution from the City of Coral Gables urging the County to amend the age requirements. The ordinance passed its first reading before the Board of County Commissioners on June 2, 2026, and was scheduled for a public hearing before the Transportation Committee on July 14, 2026. The ordinance is expected to be effective 10 days after enactment.
