RELATING TO THE INFILL HOUSING INITIATIVE PROGRAM

This ordinance amends Section 17-124 of the Miami-Dade County Code to limit extensions granted to developers under the Infill Housing Initiative Program. Developers will be limited to a maximum of two one-year extensions for any individual property. An additional extension may be granted upon a two-thirds vote of the Board for extraordinary circumstances. The ordinance aims to promote accountability, program efficiency, and expedite affordable housing production. The Board of County Commissioners amended the ordinance on June 16, 2026, after deferring it on June 2, 2026, to allow for further discussion and amendments. The ordinance was adopted on first reading on April 21, 2026, and forwarded with a favorable recommendation by the Intergovernmental and Economic Impact Committee on May 13, 2026.
