Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners approved the first amendment to a joint development agreement for the Palmetto Station Transit-Oriented Development Project. This amendment restructures the project to allow developers to enter directly into ground leases with the County, improving financeability. The project will include a minimum of 929 workforce and community housing units, with an optional future phase for an additional 212 units. It will also feature commercial space, transit-supportive infrastructure, and structured parking facilities, preserving at least 550 transit-user parking spaces. The County will receive lease revenues without responsibility for construction or operational costs. The Board also approved the Phase I Ground Lease Agreement and authorized the County Mayor to execute agreements and take necessary actions to implement the project.
