SAME DAY PERMIT PROGRAM

Miami-Dade County is creating a Same-Day Permitting Program for certain residential projects. The program aims to expedite permits for minor construction and repair work, such as fences under six feet, gates, stairs, driveways, pools, windows, doors, roofing, kitchen/bathroom remodels, interior demolition, prefabricated sheds, minor non-structural repairs, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs. Projects requiring structural review, those in historic districts, with open code enforcement cases, or to legalize existing violations are excluded. Applicants must submit documents electronically before an in-person meeting for same-day review and potential permit issuance. The County Mayor or designee will implement the program and provide semi-annual reports on its effectiveness. The ordinance was adopted on first reading by the Board of County Commissioners on June 16, 2026, and was in committee as of July 21, 2026.
