SAME DAY PERMIT PROGRAM

Miami-Dade County is creating a Same-Day Permitting Program for certain minor residential projects. The program requires the County Mayor or designee to develop and implement it, with reports submitted every six months. Eligible projects include fences up to six feet, gates, stairs, railings, driveways, pavers, trusses, pools, windows, doors, shutters, skylights, garage doors, roofing/re-roofing, kitchen/bathroom remodels, interior/partial demolition, prefabricated sheds, minor non-structural repairs, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repair permits. Projects requiring structural review, located in historic districts, with open code enforcement cases, or to legalize existing violations are not eligible. Applicants must submit documents electronically before an in-person meeting for same-day review and potential permit approval. The ordinance was adopted on first reading by the Board of County Commissioners on 6/16/2026 and is scheduled for a public hearing on 7/13/2026.
