SPECIAL WARRANTY DEED - PINE ROCKLAND PRESERVATION AREA
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · resolution
Miami-Dade County is considering the acceptance of a 1.07-acre parcel for conservation purposes. The parcel, identified by Folio Nos. 30-6933-000-0680 and 30-6933-000-0700, is located along Harriet Tubman Highway and SW 278 Street in unincorporated Miami-Dade County. The land is being donated by VC Station, LLC, which is developing a mixed-use affordable housing project on an adjacent site. The donation is intended to preserve a globally imperiled pine rockland habitat. The County's Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM) will manage the site, with estimated annual maintenance costs between $5,000 to $10,000 funded by Tree Trust Funds. Minor soil and groundwater impacts were identified near the northeastern boundary but are being addressed by the owner and do not impede conservation use. The acceptance was deferred by the Board of County Commissioners on June 2, 2026, at the request of Vice-Chairman McGhee. The Recreation, Tourism, and Resiliency Committee had previously forwarded the resolution with a favorable recommendation on March 10, 2026.
