CHARTER AMENDMENT, ARTICLE 7 ADVERTISING

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · resolution

Miami-Dade County is holding a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to allow voters to decide on amending the Home Rule Charter. The proposed amendment aims to expand allowable advertising within county parks, which is currently restricted to advertising related to sponsorship of events or facilities. The Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department faces revenue challenges, and expanded advertising is proposed as a revenue-generating measure for the park system, provided it does not unreasonably impair public use or damage parks. The resolution requires a two-thirds vote of commissioners present to be placed on the ballot, and the election itself will be decided by a majority of voters. The specific parks affected are those subject to Article 7 of the Home Rule Charter, excluding municipal parks in Coral Gables, Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, Miami, Sweetwater, and West Miami.
