CREATING MDC BOATER SAFETY, BAY EDUCATION ADVISORY BOARD
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · ordinance
Miami-Dade County is creating the Miami-Dade County Boater Safety and Bay Education Advisory Board. This ordinance establishes the board, outlines its composition (nine voting members with expertise in boater safety, law enforcement, recreational and commercial boating industries, community vitality, environmental protection, and the general community), duties, and operational procedures. The board will make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners and County Mayor on boater safety issues, track progress on task force recommendations, monitor emergent issues, and consult with various governmental entities and organizations. Members serve without compensation. The ordinance was introduced on 7/1/2026 and is currently in the Recreation, Tourism, and Resiliency Committee, with a public hearing tentatively scheduled for 7/21/2026. The creation of this board stems from recommendations following a temporary task force established in response to boating-related fatalities and injuries on Biscayne Bay.
