DEMOLITION OF ARTHUR MAYS VILLAS PUBLIC HOUSING DEVELOPMENT

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is authorizing the submission of a demolition application to HUD for a portion of the Arthur Mays Villas Public Housing Development. This portion consists of 147 units located within a specific site. The demolition is subject to HUD approval. A demolition contract, with an estimated value up to $2,000,000.00, will be competitively selected and awarded through the Miscellaneous Construction Contracts (MCC) 7360 Plan. The County Mayor or designee is authorized to submit the application, award the contract, and execute necessary agreements with HUD. The decision to demolish stems from a physical needs assessment indicating rehabilitation costs exceed HUD thresholds for physical obsolescence, and some buildings have received unsafe structure violation notices. The Department of Housing and Community Development has conducted multiple outreach meetings with residents and plans further engagement with community stakeholders. Thirteen units are currently occupied and will be relocated upon HUD approval.
