ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION AND UTILITY SERVICE FEE
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · ordinance
Miami-Dade County is establishing a loan program for environmental remediation projects focused on drinking water supply protection. This program will utilize funds from the Utility Service Fee and will not expand the eligible uses of these funds. Loans will be available for properties currently owned by the County or previously owned by the County before January 1, 2025, provided the properties are 10 acres or larger. Eligible applicants include County departments, tenants on County-owned properties, and owners/tenants of former County properties. Loans to non-County entities will be zero-interest, repaid over 35 years, and secured by a second priority lien. Loans to County departments will also be zero-interest and repaid within 35 years. The program is discretionary and requires Board of County Commissioners approval for all loans. The ordinance is currently in committee.
