Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is ratifying the submission of a grant application and authorizing the execution of a grant agreement for the Venetian Causeway Bridge Replacement Project. The project aims to replace 11 bridges built in 1926 with newer, more resilient infrastructure. The total estimated project construction cost is $201,094,080. The federal grant amount is up to $100,547,040, with a required local match of at least $50,273,520 and a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) match of up to $50,273,520. The project will improve safety, resiliency, aesthetics, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The bridges exhibit severe deterioration due to age and marine environment exposure, and do not meet current design standards.
