Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is approving the award of Contract No. EVN0013501, "QUICKLIME," to Carmeuse Lime & Stone, Inc. for $124,080,000.00 for a five-year term. This contract is for the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) to procure quicklime, a critical chemical used in water treatment operations at three regional water treatment plants. The quicklime will be delivered in bulk by truck and railcar. The contract replaces a previous one and reflects updated unit pricing due to current market conditions. The award was made to the lowest priced responsive and responsible bidder after a competitive solicitation process. No certified Small Business Enterprise (SBE) firms were able to meet the solicitation requirements. The contract requires the quicklime to meet stringent quality and regulatory standards, including those from ASTM, AWWA, NSF/ANSI, and the Florida Administrative Code, to ensure suitability for potable water treatment and compliance with EPA regulations. The county mayor or designee is authorized to issue purchase orders and exercise contract provisions.
