Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is considering the approval of Contract No. EVN0013501, for the supply of quicklime, to Carmeuse Lime & Stone, Inc. The contract is for a five-year term with a total amount of $124,080,000.00. This quicklime is essential for the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department's (WASD) water treatment operations at three regional plants: John E. Preston, Hialeah, and Alexander Orr. The material is used for water softening, pH adjustment, and alkalinity control. WASD requires approximately 42,000 tons annually. The contract was awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder after an Invitation to Bid issued on March 9, 2026, with two bids received. No certified Small Business Enterprise (SBE) firms were able to meet the solicitation requirements. The contract allows for annual price adjustments. The Infrastructure, Innovation & Technology Committee forwarded this item to the Board with a favorable recommendation.
