SAME DAY PERMIT PROGRAM

Miami-Dade County is creating a Same-Day Permitting Program for certain minor residential projects. The program aims to streamline the permit application process for eligible projects such as fences (under 6 feet), gates, stairs, railings, driveways, pavers, trusses, pools, windows, doors, shutters, skylights, garage doors, roofing/re-roofing, kitchen/bathroom remodels, interior/partial demolition, prefabricated sheds, minor non-structural repairs, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repair permits. Projects requiring structural review, located in historic districts, with open code enforcement cases, or to legalize existing violations are not eligible. Applicants will submit documents electronically for same-day review and potential permit approval. The County Mayor or designee will implement the program and provide six-month reports on its effectiveness. Permit fees may be reduced if delays are caused by the reviewing department. The ordinance was introduced on July 14, 2026, and is scheduled for an agenda on July 21, 2026.
