Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution delegating authority to the County Mayor or designee to negotiate and execute an amendment to an Exchange Agreement with UniCapital Medley QOZB LLC. This amendment will modify minimum design requirements and increase the County's minimum contribution for the Animal Services Department South Dade Pet Adoption and Protection Center. The County's contribution will increase by up to $3,000,000, bringing the total County contribution to $6,200,000. An additional $1,000,000 is approved for a design and construction contingency. The total project cost is now approximately $25,000,000, with $18,000,000 in private funds and up to $7,200,000 in County funds. The resolution also waives a requirement for non-County parties to execute contracts before agenda placement. The design enhancements are intended to improve facility performance, reduce disease spread, and support the County's No-Kill policy, incorporating specialized systems for animal sheltering facilities.
