SOUTHEAST FL REGIONAL CLIMATE COMPACT ILA
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · resolution
Miami-Dade County is approving an Interlocal Agreement (ILA) for the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact. Under this agreement, Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties will each contribute $285,000 over three fiscal years (2027-2029), totaling $95,000 annually per county. Monroe County will contribute $30,000 total ($10,000 annually). Broward County will retain and supervise the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) on behalf of all four counties to provide services for the Compact. The total annual cost for services from ISC across all counties will be $295,000. The agreement replaces a previous one expiring September 30, 2026. The County Mayor or designee is authorized to execute the ILA, approve extensions, and select Miami-Dade representatives to the Compact Leadership Committee. The Department of Environmental Resources Management, specifically Chief Resilience Officer and Director Loren Parra, will monitor the agreement. The Compact has facilitated regional resilience efforts, including securing funding for projects and developing unified sea-level rise projections.
