EXCHANGE PROPERTY BETWEEN COUNTY AND THE SOUTH FLORIDA

Miami-Dade County is approving a land exchange with the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) for roadway improvements. The County will receive 1.318 acres of SFWMD property needed for the SW 157th Avenue project, in exchange for 3.889 acres of County-owned land. The SFWMD property is located along the west right-of-way of SW 157th Avenue between SW 42nd Street and SW 26th Street. The County property to be conveyed is bounded by SW 26 Street (north), SW 28 Street (south), SW 173 Avenue (west), and SW 172 Court (east). Both parcels are valued at $175,000.00. The County roadway project involves widening SW 157th Avenue to four lanes, including new medians, sidewalks, storm drainage, and lighting. The total project cost for design, construction, and right-of-way acquisition is estimated at $26,593,000, funded by impact fees, general funds, and a state grant. The Infrastructure, Innovation & Technology Committee forwarded this item to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) with a favorable recommendation.
