Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is considering the approval of Contract No. EVN0013501, "QUICKLIME", for the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD). The contract is proposed to be awarded to Carmeuse Lime & Stone, Inc. for a five-year term, with a total amount of $124,080,000.00. This contract is for the purchase and delivery of quicklime, a critical chemical used in water treatment for softening, pH adjustment, and alkalinity control. WASD requires approximately 42,000 tons annually to supplement its own lime production and ensure continuous operations at its three regional water treatment plants: John E. Preston, Hialeah, and Alexander Orr. The contract was awarded through a competitive Invitation to Bid (ITB) process, with Carmeuse Lime & Stone, Inc. being the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
