Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is considering awarding Contract No. EVN0013501, "QUICKLIME," to Carmeuse Lime & Stone, Inc. for $124,080,000.00 over a five-year term. This contract is for the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) to purchase quicklime for water treatment operations at its three regional plants. The quicklime is delivered in bulk by truck and railcar and is essential for water softening, pH adjustment, and alkalinity control. WASD requires approximately 42,000 tons annually to supplement its own lime production and ensure continuous operations. The contract replaces Contract No. FB-01772. The Infrastructure, Innovation & Technology Committee forwarded this item to the BCC with a favorable recommendation on 6/10/2026. The contract award is scheduled for the BCC Agenda on 7/21/2026.
