Miami-Dade County is seeking to extend Contract No. 6938-2/22 for Garbage Collection and Disposal Services by three years, with an additional expenditure authority of $19,411,303.00. This brings the total modified cumulative amount to $81,897,586.00. The extension is necessary for multiple county departments, including Housing and Community Development (HCD), Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces (PROS), Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation (MDCR), People and Internal Operations (PIOD), and Water and Sewer (WASD), to continue receiving services without interruption. The extension also allows the Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) time to transition these services to in-house operations. The contract was originally approved on September 17, 2013. The decision is pending a two-thirds vote of the Board members present.
