Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is authorizing a non-competitive designated purchase for garbage collection and disposal services under Contract No. 6938-2/22. This action grants an additional three-year extension and expenditure authority of $19,411,303.00, bringing the total modified cumulative amount to $81,897,586.00. This extension is for multiple County departments, including Housing and Community Development (HCD), Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department (PROS), Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation (MDCR), People and Internal Operations Department (PIOD), and Water and Sewer Department (WASD). The extension is needed to ensure continuity of services while the Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) transitions these services to in-house operations. The contract was originally established on September 17, 2013, and awarded to multiple vendors on a group basis. The two primary awarded vendors are Waste Connections of Florida, Inc. and Waste Management, Inc. of Florida. The Board requires a two-thirds vote for this non-competitive purchase.
