Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is considering a resolution to delegate authority to the County Mayor or designee to negotiate and execute an amendment to an existing Exchange Agreement with UniCapital Medley QOZB LLC. This amendment will modify minimum design requirements and increase the County's minimum contribution for the Animal Services Department South Dade Pet Adoption and Protection Center. The project's total cost is increasing from approximately $21,000,000 to approximately $25,000,000, with an additional $3,000,000 allocated for design enhancements and $1,000,000 for a design and construction contingency. The enhancements are recommended by the design consultant, Animal Arts, to improve facility performance, reduce disease spread, and support the County's No-Kill policy. The resolution also waives a requirement for non-County parties to execute contracts before agenda placement. The Intergovernmental and Economic Impact Committee forwarded the resolution to the Board with a favorable recommendation.
