Miami-Dade County is holding a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, coinciding with the general election, to allow voters to decide on amendments to the Home Rule Charter. These amendments are proposed to address the reestablishment of elected County Constitutional Offices (Sheriff, Tax Collector, Property Appraiser, and Supervisor of Elections), clarify duties of the Clerk and County regarding finance and budget, and require County employees to take a leave of absence when running for an elected constitutional office. The Charter Review Task Force recommended these changes with a unanimous vote. The resolution is currently in committee.
