Miami-Dade County is calling a countywide special election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, to be held in conjunction with the general election. The purpose is to allow voters to decide on amending the Home Rule Charter. The proposed amendments address the reestablishment of elected County Constitutional Offices (Sheriff, Tax Collector, Property Appraiser, and Supervisor of Elections), clarify duties regarding finance and budget between the Clerk and the County, and require County employees to take a leave of absence when running for an elected Constitutional Office. The Charter Review Task Force recommended these changes. The resolution was introduced on 6/26/2026 and amended on 7/13/2026.
