Miami-Dade County is holding a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to vote on amending the Home Rule Charter, Article 7, to expand allowable advertising within parks. The proposed amendment aims to remove the current requirement that advertising must be related to sponsorship of events or facilities in the parks, provided it does not impair public use or damage the park, and that all revenue generated is for the exclusive use of the park where the advertising occurs. This initiative is driven by the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department's need for revenue to support operations and fund new projects and programs. The resolution requires a two-thirds vote of commissioners present for placement on the ballot, and the amendment itself will be decided by a majority of electors voting.
