Miami-Dade County is holding a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to allow voters to decide on amending the Home Rule Charter, Article 7, to expand allowable advertising within county parks. Currently, advertising is permitted only in connection with sponsorship of events or facilities, provided it is compatible with the park and does not unreasonably impair public use or damage the park. The proposed amendment aims to remove the sponsorship requirement to generate revenue for the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department (PROS) to support its operations and fund new projects, with all generated revenue to be used exclusively for the park where the advertising occurs. The resolution was introduced on 7/7/2026 and is scheduled for an agenda on 9/1/2026. The matter is currently 'In Committee'.
