Miami-Dade County is calling a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to allow voters to decide on amending the Home Rule Charter, Article 7, to expand allowable advertising within parks. Currently, advertising is limited to sponsorship of events or facilities, and the proposed amendment seeks to remove this restriction to generate revenue for the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department. Any revenue generated would be exclusively for the park where the advertising occurs. The resolution requires a two-thirds vote of commissioners present for placement on the ballot, and the amendment itself will be decided by a majority of voters. The Policy Council amended this item on July 13, 2026.
