LANDFILL GAS CONVERSION

Policy Council · 2026-07-13 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) rejected all proposals for the Landfill Gas Conversion Project. The project aimed to design, build, finance, operate, and maintain Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) systems at the South Dade Landfill (23707 SW 97th Avenue, Homestead, FL) and North Dade Landfill (21500 NW 47th Avenue, Miami, FL). All five proposals received were deemed non-responsive by the County Attorney's Office. The County plans to resolicit, likely focusing only on the South Dade Landfill due to viability concerns with the North Dade Landfill. The estimated cost for developers to design and build each facility was over $30,000,000. The County will seek market feedback before reissuing the solicitation. Five vendors submitted proposals: Apex One Home Inspections Corp., Mobius Fuels, LLC, Nopetro Energy, Sagepoint Energy Landfill Holdco, and Waga Energy, Inc.
