RESOLUTION CALLING A COUNTYWIDE SPECIAL ELECTION
Policy Council · 2026-07-13 · resolution
Miami-Dade County is holding a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to vote on amending the Home Rule Charter. The proposed amendment requires candidates for County Commissioner to have been a registered elector of their district for at least 365 days prior to the start of the qualifying period, an increase from the current six months. The resolution was sponsored by Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins and was forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners with a favorable recommendation after a minor scrivener's error correction. The Charter Review Task Force recommended this change by a vote of ten to none.
