SAME DAY PERMIT PROGRAM

Miami-Dade County is creating a Same-Day Permitting Program for certain minor residential projects. The program aims to streamline the permit application process for eligible projects such as fences (under 6 feet), gates, stairs, driveways, pools, windows, doors, roofing, kitchen/bathroom remodels, interior demolition, prefabricated sheds, minor non-structural repairs, and MEP repair permits. Projects requiring structural review, those in historic districts, with open code enforcement cases, or to legalize existing violations are excluded. Applicants must submit documents electronically prior to in-person or virtual review. The County Mayor or designee will implement the program via an implementing order and provide six-month reports on application numbers, approvals, denials, and reasons for delays. Fees will be refunded if delays are caused by the reviewing department. The ordinance was introduced on 7/7/2026 and amended on 7/13/2026.
