BBEETF DISBURSEMENT OF $650K FOR MOORING BUOY PROGRAM

Miami-Dade County is authorizing the disbursement of up to $650,000.00 from the Biscayne Bay Environmental Enhancement Trust Fund for the installation, maintenance, and management of mooring buoys through the Miami-Dade County Mooring Buoy Program. The program, established in 2009 and expanded in 2023, protects offshore natural and artificial reefs and provides boating, fishing, and diving access. The funds will cover quarterly maintenance by a contractor, including repairs, replacement, or installation of anchors, hardware, lines, and buoys, as well as interim inspections and public education. The Recreation, Tourism, and Resiliency Committee forwarded this item to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) with a favorable recommendation. The BCC is expected to consider this on 7/21/2026.
