EEL OPTION TO PURCHASE SOUTH DADE WETLANDS

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is considering accepting an Assignment of Option to Purchase approximately 10 acres within the Environmentally Endangered Lands Program South Dade Wetlands Project. The property is being sold by Timothy H. Noto and Ellen C. Noto, as Personal Representatives of the Estate of Rachel M. Noto, to Miami-Dade County for $3,500,000.00. Funding will come from the Building Better Communities General Obligation Bond Program. The Nature Conservancy is the assignor. The Board previously approved acquisition in this area. The purpose is to preserve wetlands critical for water quality and protection against saltwater intrusion, located strategically between Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park. The Recreation, Tourism, and Resiliency Committee forwarded the item to the Board with a favorable recommendation.
