Miami-Dade County is enacting new regulations for overnight anchoring of vessels in both incorporated and unincorporated areas. The ordinance prohibits vessels from anchoring for more than 1 hour between sunset and sunrise for over 30 days in any 6-month period, with specific exemptions for governmental entities, construction/dredging vessels on active sites, and commercial fishing vessels. Enforcement will be through civil penalties, with fines escalating for repeat offenses. The ordinance also amends the schedule of civil penalties. This legislative matter is a substitute to a previous file and is expected to take 4-6 weeks to finalize.
