This document is an ordinance amending Chapter 14 of the Code of Miami-Dade County, Florida, relating to fire prevention and life safety. It was introduced on March 3, 2026, and subsequently withdrawn. The ordinance proposed numerous updates and technical amendments to fire prevention codes, including definitions, owner's statements for fire investigations, appeals procedures, operating permits, consent agreements, utility disconnections for fire code violations, false fire alarm regulations, fireworks sales, emergency action plans, exit and emergency lighting, fire protection systems maintenance, emergency power systems, water supplies for firefighting outside the Urban Development Boundary, premises identification, and civil penalties. The Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue Department was the requester. The ordinance was adopted on first reading by the Board of County Commissioners on April 21, 2026, and was scheduled for a public hearing before the Safety and Health Committee on June 8, 2026, where it was ultimately withdrawn.
