Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution declaring the acquisition of Parcel 5 a public necessity for road widening, beautification, and right-of-way improvements to SW 117 Avenue from SW 184 Street (Eureka Drive) to US-1. The project involves reconstructing and widening SW 117 Avenue from a two-lane to a four-lane divided road, including sidewalks, stormwater drainage, lighting, and landscaping. The County Mayor or designee is authorized to acquire the property through negotiation, donation, right-of-way designation, or purchase, with an incentive offer up to 15 percent over appraised value, or by eminent domain. The estimated cost for design, construction, and acquisition is $19,997,315, funded by the ARTERIAL ROADS COUNTYWIDE program and MOBILITY IMPACT FEE. Annual maintenance costs are estimated at $30,180.
