Miami-Dade County and the City of North Miami are entering into an Interlocal Agreement for on-demand transportation services. The agreement, which has a five-year term with two five-year renewal options, is funded by the City's share of Charter County Transportation Surtax proceeds and has no fiscal impact on Miami-Dade County. The service, which began in July 2023 and is operated by Freebee using six Tesla vehicles, aims to enhance local mobility by providing stop-to-stop service within and around North Miami, including connections to key destinations, with a maximum trip length of five miles. The Board of County Commissioners is set to approve the agreement, which was retroactively effective to February 5, 2026, the date it was executed by the City. The Transportation Committee forwarded the item to the Board with a favorable recommendation.
