Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is considering an Interlocal Agreement with the City of North Miami for on-demand transportation services. The agreement, which has a five-year term with two five-year renewal options, is funded by the City of North Miami using its share of Charter County Transportation Surtax proceeds, resulting in no cost to Miami-Dade County. The service, which began in July 2023 and is operated by Freebee using six Tesla vehicles, aims to enhance local mobility by providing dynamically routed, stop-to-stop service within and around North Miami, complementing existing DTPW bus routes. The agreement was retroactively effective to February 5, 2026, and ratified prior use of surtax funds. The Transportation Committee forwarded the item to the BCC with a favorable recommendation.
