Miami-Dade County is approving an Interlocal Agreement with the City of North Miami for on-demand transportation services. The agreement, which has a five-year term with two five-year renewal options, is funded by the City's share of Charter County Transportation Surtax proceeds and has no cost to Miami-Dade County. The service, which began in July 2023 and is operated by Freebee using six Tesla vehicles, aims to enhance local mobility by providing stop-to-stop service within and around North Miami, including connections to key destinations, with a maximum trip length of five miles. Hours of operation vary by day. The agreement was retroactively effective February 5, 2026, and ratified prior use of surtax funds. The North Miami City Council authorized execution of this agreement in September 2024.
