Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is considering an Interlocal Agreement with the City of North Miami for on-demand transportation services. The agreement, which has a five-year term with two five-year renewal options, is funded by the City of North Miami using its share of Charter County Transportation Surtax proceeds, meaning there is no cost to Miami-Dade County. The service aims to enhance local mobility by providing dynamically routed, stop-to-stop transportation within and around North Miami, complementing existing bus routes and connecting to key destinations. The service began in July 2023, operated by Freebee using four Tesla Model X and two Tesla Model Y vehicles, with specific operating hours. The North Miami City Council authorized the agreement in September 2024. The Transportation Committee forwarded the item to the BCC with a favorable recommendation.
