Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is considering an Interlocal Agreement with the City of North Miami for on-demand transportation services. The agreement, which has a five-year term with two five-year renewal options, is at no cost to Miami-Dade County as the City will fund the program using its share of Charter County Transportation Surtax proceeds. The service, which began in July 2023 and is operated by Freebee using four Tesla Model X and two Tesla Model Y vehicles, aims to enhance local mobility by providing stop-to-stop service within and around North Miami, including connections to key destinations, with a maximum trip length of five miles. The service operates with specific hours from Monday to Sunday. The Transportation Committee forwarded this item with a favorable recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners. The City Council authorized the execution of this agreement in September 2024.
