Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is considering an Interlocal Agreement with the City of North Miami for on-demand transportation services. The agreement, which has a five-year term with two five-year renewal options, is funded by the City of North Miami using its share of Charter County Transportation Surtax proceeds, resulting in no cost to Miami-Dade County. The service aims to enhance local mobility, complement existing bus routes, and increase public transit usage. The service began in July 2023, is operated by Freebee using six Tesla vehicles, and has specific operating hours. The Transportation Committee forwarded the item to the BCC with a favorable recommendation. The agreement was retroactively effective to February 5, 2026, the date it was executed by the City.
